Simple Secrets to a Beautiful Home

By Proverbs 31 v10-31 - Posted on 20 September 2009

The feature book of September for me has definitely got to be 'Simple Secrets to a Beautiful Home: Creating a Place You and Your Family Will Love'. Though it had me stall reading several times because I was simply too tired to take it all in, I thoroughly enjoyed the read which was about the spirit of making a house a home without being specifically focussed on household management, decorating, or how to make a cottage garden. No, instead it was a refreshing natural exploration of how to find your own way to make a welcoming environment through the use of creativity, femininity, stillness, hospitality, celebration and Godliness.

It also addresses two key areas of the home that I am truly passionate about - the kitchen and the garden. For me the kitchen and garden are not just the two places that I believe go hand in hand with a beautiful home but also provide an active demonstration of care for our world we have been entrusted with.

It is a great read for anyone who is in that process of setting up their home and are looking for the inspiration to help them make their home have a personal flair that reflects those who live in it.

Hi Homeschool Mum & Proverbs 31!

When I was nine, I received three or four girl's Emilie Barnes books for Christmas, and loved them! My Mum has a lot of Emilie Barnes books and reads them a lot. I think I read "Simple Secrets to a Beautiful Home" (with the exception of the recipes!) when I was twelve or thirteen, and love the book. I've loved her other 'adult' books too, and think they are just wonderful. There is nothing quite like a homemaking book, is there? :)

Thanks for your comment and God bless!

Thank you Jessica! I have a few of her titles and they are truly heartening as we take the journey of womanhood - one that you have many more years to look forward to than I do!
