He survived long enough to turn five!

Happy Birthday PJ - I am glad that you made it to the big five year old mark. I hope that cutting the cake with your left hand wasn't too difficult and that you are looking forward to the chance to actually start writing, batting, and rock climbing again soon so we can re-start our new home schooling adventure with you on the team.

Thank you also to our friends in Bowral who made PJ's birthday all that he hoped - great friends, yummy food and a cake with pink icing - who could want for more?

The aftermath...

What else can I say? We survived Christmas 2009 relatively unscathed! Yes, that is something to be happy about.

Food on all accounts, with both sides of the family, was great. No one was injured in the preparation of it either which is a bonus. (Trips to St Andrews on Christmas Day with burns just can't be fun. I still shudder at the thought of that day in 2007).

Is Rusty to become unemployed or an Internet-less employee?

In light of IBM internal cutbacks, one has to ask the question as to whether Rusty is to officially become unemployed or a full-time Internet-less employee after IBM removes his paid internet service for his home.

Either that or he may be forced to go to an office, start of coffee-run roster. Surely, this can't be good for productivity loss through ducking to the local cafe.

Paul's time > Kristy's time

What to say - most friends have more time than me!

My friend Paul had enough time to create a shoe phone after being reminded of Get Smart. Past's fiction, today's reality. ;)

Trust vs Distrust

Pockets of good and badFeeling burnt.

Way back when I had someone explain to me the development of world-view in a child, particularly in respect to children who are victim to abuse or neglect. It went along the lines of this, in a very oversimplified form. If you use an illustration of a piece of paper where black is bad and white is good (classic psychology association there). Children with healthy upbringings tend to see the world as generally white paper with black spots (good with pockets of bad) and children with less desirable upbringings tend to see the world as a black piece of paper with white spots (generally bad with pockets of good).

As we get to adulthood that picture becomes a bit more complex and leads to the labels that we commonly banter around like skeptic, optimist, pessimist, realist, etc. Today my self-classification has been challenged.

This was the last thing I need right now whilst Michael is down with pneumonia and I am waiting for 12.15pm to roll around so I can see the doctor as I think I have it now too. (Breathing is suddenly an important feature of living today).

To my Canberran friends...

Hi all!

Well it's been almost 6 months since we left Canberra now so I thought I'd drop in an update as to how we all are on the family front.

More fires! (Adelaide)

Yep, we have more fires, thankfully heading away from us at the moment, so please spare a thought for those down the hill in the 'suburban plains'.

This fire is posing a threat and is not yet contained.

Updates have been posted on the CFS web site at 3.20pm, 3.45pm, 4.08pm and 4.38pm.

Oh yeah, and don't bother trying to get home via Old Belair Road at all - you'll be disappointed by the road block!

Forecast for Thursday evening

A fine, mild to warm evening with clear skies. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds, fresh to strong and gusty about the hills and southern suburbs this evening. Fresh to strong late afternoon and early vening sea breezes on northern beaches.

Doh! Looks like we'd better put some thought into our bushfire action plan.

Sudoku Spam Filtering

Yes, my blog has been quiet. I do wish it was because I was a Stay At Home Mum with nothing but children in my life but alas it has just been chaotic doing lots of work for lots of different businesses. But in the news...

A friend of mine Paul is presenting at an IEEE event this week with a bit of a novel idea. An ABC article reports on it in more detail for those who are interested.

How sweet!

Rachael Belmmings
Baby Hedgehog
There is nothing cuter than a little Blemmings. Rachael is featured here in her cat hat and t-shirt. Yes, this is the same child that Tridge read the John Lyons book to. Ain't she gorgeous? Speaking of cute we also have found a local hedgehog. They also are cute.
