Geoff in Gizmag

Geoff, my geeky brother-in-law, is again getting himself media attention. What is now over two years since the creation of 'meta', the open source segway, Geoff's work has rated a mention in New Scientist magazine's December issue and has now also been published in Gizmag also.

Home, Sweet, Home

We'll the drive home was an awesome time to reflect on the weekend. After dropping Rusty and MD at the airport it was just me and my thoughts all the way home.

The weekend was really awesome and I certainly appreciated the break from the kids. But when all was said and done, when the meals were finished and drinks were consumed there was still the little empty piece of my heart. I guess my family really was one of greatest contibutors to fulfillment in my life.

I love my family heaps and was *really* glad to be home.

Ghosts Sunday

Seven's Secret plot has been partly unveiled. No, the next conference never shares the *really cools stuff* until it is unveiled at the conference. But the new workings sound innovative and very cool. It feels somewhat like the transition from Perl5 to Perl6. Oh, oh I am getting bouncy excited and yet, am trying to remain level headed enough to give advice on what may or may not be possible in the current time frames.

Cool, well ghosts has drawn to a close and, man, this team has certainly set the bar high for themselves this year. If they even pull half of what they have planned off then the conference will be awesome. Now I just have to write a paper that is good enough to be accepted in CFP - I have this dying desire to be in a speakers shoes this coming year!

James Squires - Dinner

Seven and ghosts made their way to James Squires for dinner tonight. Double thumbs up. As many people know I am not a beer or wine drinker..... However, Rusty introduced me to a beautiful dessert wine. Hmm, I think I need to review my drink selection for home.

Ghosts Saturday Summary

Yep, ghosts of LCA past began today. Those of us who joined the Sydney Seven Team included Mike Beatie and a bunch of 2006 organisers including Alex King, Nick Philips, Kelvin Sim. We are also blessed with the presence of Rusty, MD, and Jon Oxer. Of course, I was there too as a ghost of Partner's Programme.

Today we did the 'share because we care' session and imparted our joys and sorrows of the conferences we organised. I feel it was well recieved. The feeling I got was that these guys are reasonably on the ball and will be churning out a great conference for 2007.

These guys have instilled a confidence me that LCA is something that is going to remain a 'cool place' to hang out with geeks as well as a place to learn heaps of new stuff.
